INTEGRATION by John Carroll

“..it’s time that one of us is willing to ‘step up to the plate’ in Irish politics and show that we are ready and willing to lead by example at all levels of our new home, here in Ireland in not just labour but intellect as well...”

It is only right that the subject of integration be raised and planned for, what is not right however is scare stories instead of facts leading policies. For either an individual or a political party, we in these challenging times will need leadership to challenge possible divisive issues such as immigration.

On this, Ignatius is clear and to the forefront as confirmed in his press release challenging the statements of Leo Varadkar.

The challenge isn’t solely of integration but... equally as important is adaptation. Each of us for our own part, must adapt to the changing world around us and if we take a look around at the people we work and socialize with, we can see that we are, each the same. Kids, bills, worries and so on but with a bit of effort and a willingness to change (even just a little) we can all integrate into a more community focused society and that should be the strategic aim of any and all public representatives and parties: it’s how Ignatius intends to campaign and represent his community or as he told me when we first met “...it’s time that one of us is willing to ‘step up to the plate’ in Irish politics and show that we are ready and willing to lead by example at all levels of our new home here in Ireland in not just labour but intellect as well”.

Immigrants are Emigrants from somewhere and sure weren’t we Irish in similar circumstances for generations and indeed many of the current Irish generation may find themselves in similar circumstances again.
